REACTIVATION – THE ROAD BACK TO HEALTH

For many of our patients, receiving Spinal Correction, relief occurs within days, hours, and in some cases minutes after the first adjustment.  When the patient receives a reaction of this type there is little need for explanation.  The patient becomes symptom free.  He has restored faith in himself, sleeps soundly, has a good relaxed feeling and is happy.

Suppose that the first few weeks do not bring about these feelings? Should the patient feel discouraged?  Not necessarily, instead he or she should understand that many times conditions do not improve rapidly and in the early stages of Spinal Correction, health restoration may seem difficult.

Many times a rough road from Health to sickness has been traveled.  It is only reasonable that the road back will not be entirely free of obstacles.  Nature cannot revive worn out cells and tissues overnight.  That takes time – days, weeks, months, depending upon the extent of damage done.   In the meantime, some activity is bound to occur, and the work of healing, repairing and restoring will more likely be accompanied by discomfort.

Often when a patient is going through the Retracing Period, or the return from the Abnormal to the Normal, there is a general Rebuilding process; tearing down the Old and Rebuilding the New, from Growth of Disease to Regrowth of Health.  It is the Rebuilding Period that the patient may become upset thinking he is not responding when actually he is getting well.

As long as the precision, Spinal Tests continue to improve, the correction is taking place and the flow of nerve supply from brain to body, is increasing to the area of sickness or injury, hence Reconstruction is occurring.  Nothing more can be done.  From then on it is up to the Internal Healing Forced of your body, and no one can hasten the recovery faster than IT deems necessary.

Such discomfort and pain that you may experience will, however, be eased by the knowledge that you are headed for a new lease on life by having the OBSTACLE between you and good health corrected.

TIME AND ITS ROLE IN THE CORRECTION OF YOUR SPINE

So you ask: “Can Chiropractic cure me?”  And “How long will it take to get well?”

In trying to reach a justifiable and sincere prognosis, five things must be considered:

     (1)   Your age.  (2) Degree to which disease has progressed.  (3)  Vitality in reserve in YOUR body which does the “healing” or “curing”.  (4)  Our ability as Chiropractors.  (5) Time YOU allow for recovery.

If a Spinal Vertebrae has been “locked out” of its normal position for a long period of time the ligaments, tendons, and muscle attached to the Vertebrae may be adapted to the abnormal position.

Occasionally, it may take only one adjustment to move a misaligned vertebra to its correct, normal position, and it may remain there for several months or even permanently.

FOR THE MAJORITY, however, a Spinal misalignment is too great for the adjustment to restore alignment hence, after adjustment is given, it requires time for the spinal muscles to return the VERTEBRAE to the correct position.  In the meantime, connective tissues, such as ligaments, discs, articular capsules, etc. must re-adapt to the Corrective Vertebral Positions.  Since, this is occurring there will be a tendency for the vertebrae to ‘slip’ out of the Adjusted Position.  When this happens, additional adjustments will be needed in order to RE-ESTABLISH the Corrective Process and to prevent the loss of correction PREVIOUSLY GAINED.   On each visit our Spinal Test will indicate if you are holding adjustment and establishing a Correction or if another adjustment is needed or threatening.

THE CREATOR’S FORMULA FOR HEALTH

The Creator has his own formula for health.  When you cut your finger he activates the internal mechanism which heals it; when you break a bone he knits it cleverly together again; when you wrench a muscle or ligament he soothes and restores it to its original condition.  The Creator having built the body in the first place, KNOWS BEST how to take care of it.

When nerve impulses have ALWAYS flowed freely throughout a nervous system that body (baring injury or poor nourishment) must be healthy.  That is Creation’s recipe for health.  When anything interferes with the flow of this vital nerve energy malfunction and/or tissue damage MUST result.  Examinations made of millions of patients by Chiropractors, throughout the last half century, show that the most common cause of such interference is a MISALIGNED VERTEBRA IN THE SPINE.

THE MOST COMMON INJURIES TO THE SPINE

Falls, jolts, sprains and postural strains that occur in early years often set the stage for spinal weaknesses and dis-ease later in life.

The discs between the Spinal Vertebrae are shock absorbers of the Spine.  With each injury or fall they cushion the effect of the force.  With severe or repeated injury, the ligaments and muscles holding the Vertebrae give way and the Vertebra compresses the Spinal Cord and Spinal Nerves.

All children should be protected as much as possible against falls and severe jars which may directly or indirectly damage the Spine.  Every child who suffers a fall or injury should have a Chiropractic Spinal Check-up.

SPINAL WHIPLASH INJURIES

The sudden jarring and or whipping of the head and neck in an auto collision may damage the Spine.  As a result of whiplash there may be vertebral misalignment and sharp impingement of certain nerves with a consequent ill effect on health.  To correct this difficulty, it is essential that the neck vertebrae be restored as soon as possible to their aligned positions, so an unrestricted nerve supply can flow freely to all parts of the body.

You alone simply cannot know if you have suffered a spinal displacement.  Trouble may appear weeks, months or even years later.  Regular Spinal Check-ups can protect your health.
