Trigeminal NeuralgiaThere are countless people who suffer from TN. Recent research shows that Trigeminal Neuralgia may be caused by damage to the trigeminal nerve in the upper spinal cord and brainstem area. Trauma to the head, neck and upper back can injure the nerve pathways in the spinal cord and brain stem. The symptoms may start immediately after injury or show up slowly over time. A pilot study, conducted at Life University yielded impressive results with Trigeminal Neuralgia patients and upper cervical care. The results showed that all participants had major relief of pain symptoms in the first 4 weeks of care and gradually improved over the last four weeks as well. Dr. Roger Hinson, who was the research director of the study suggests that Trigeminal Neuralgia may develop because an upper cervical misalignment that contributes to the nerve being in a state of hyperactivity. The hyperactive nerve results in the symptom of pain.
